How to Get There;

Getting to Casa Ian couldn't be easier. Simply fly into the Guadalajara International Airport which is situated half way between Guadalajara and Lake Chapala. Once you have cleared Mexican Customs and Immigration you simply hop into a shuttle bus or taxi and 20 minutes later you're there at the house.

Transportation arrangements can be made to have you picked up at the airport for a fee which will vary from $25 to $50 depending on the time of day. The rates are lowest during the daylight hours and higher after dark.

Once there, kick your feet up and make yourself at home. You will find the neighbors and people within the neighborhood very freindly and will have much curiosity about you. Being able to speak Spanish is not necessary, but even your trying to speak a few words is always appreciated by the locals.

Out and About;

Getting to the lake from Casa Ian is a short 15-20 minute walk or a 10 minute local bus ride for just a few pesos. The streets are very safe to walk and in doing so you will encounter many  interesting shops and restaurants as well as the local market held daily at the town center/square. There is also the local market which is held only a block and a half from the house on Mondays. Lots of farm fresh produce and a host of other things are available.

Church services are available everywhere and in Mexico are predominantly Roman Catholic.

There are many service clubs in the Lake area and also deserving charitable organizations with which to volunteer your time if you are so inclined to do so.

Information on much more can be found at the Canadian Club web site or the Lake Chapala Society's (American) web site as well. Both are listed in the "Links to Additional Information" page here.
